An operation in Walsall targeting high crime areas and criminals who live in those areas has seen significant results over the last five months.

Operation Focus - launched at the beginning of October last year and extended until the end of last month - has seen over 200 arrests.

A man has been jailed for 14 weeks after an Aston Villa player was assaulted at the second city derby yesterday (10 March).

Paul Mitchell, 27 from Rubery, forced his way onto the pitch before punching football player Jack Grealish in the head ten minutes into the game.

Police investigating an assault at an address in Frazer Road, Sparkhill on Sunday 10 March have arrested and charged a man.

Badrul Hussain, 25, from Fraser Road, Sparkhill, has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a 42-year-old man suffered head and facial injuries.

A 13-year-old boy has been jailed after he admitted stabbing three pupils outside the University of Birmingham School in Selly Oak.

He attacked the teenagers as they headed home from school on 10 December last year.

We continue to appeal for information following an attack on a couple in their 70s in Stourbridge in broad daylight.

A 71-year-old woman was on her driveway at 3pm on Monday 11 February, when she was approached by a masked man wielding a machete, who threatened her demanding car keys.

Paul Davies admitted one charge, relating to five images of a teenage girl in April and May last year, during a previous court hearing.
