Six men arrested in police crackdown on gun crime

Six people have been arrested as part of the on-going crackdown to tackle gun crime in the city. 
The six men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after suspicious activity was reported in Pine Avenue, Smethwick last night (23 August). 
The men were stopped in a car on Aston Lane, Aston at around 2.25am this morning following reports they were in possession of a firearm.
Investigations are on-going, six men aged between 17 and 19 remain in police custody this morning.

Superintendent Mat Shaer who is leading on the crackdown, said: “Our priority is to protect members of the community from people who carry weapons or commit crime.
“If you have any information call officers on 101."
