Police appeal following Shard End shooting

Detectives investigating a shooting in the Shard End area of Birmingham last night, (Wednesday) are appealing for information.

Police were called to Hall Hays Road after receiving a report of shots fired from a car just before 6:30pm.

Fortunately no injuries have been reported.

A bullet and shell have been recovered from the scene and are undergoing forensic analysis.

Officers are keen to trace a dark coloured VW Golf which was seen making off from the scene shortly after the incident.

Detective Sergeant Simon Hanlon from Force CID, said: “This is a shocking incident which happened in broad daylight in a busy area of the city.

“I’m asking for anyone with information on any suspicious behaviour in the area, or anyone who witnessed the events and has not yet come forward, to speak to us.

“Even the smallest detail could help us piece together the events and understand what has happened."

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at WMP Online between 8am and midnight or call 101 anytime. Please quote log number 2020 of 7 August.

Alternatively people can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Tell them what you know, not who you are.
