Police appeal to find hit and run driver after teen dies
An ‘aspiring doctor’ has died following a non-stop collision in Alum Rock on Tuesday morning (22 October).
Pedestrian Yahya Adan was struck by a dark coloured saloon type vehicle on Alum Rock Road, near to the junction of Naseby Road and Anthony Road just after midnight.
The 18-year-old from Saltley was taken to hospital with critical injuries, but sadly lost his fight for life the next day.
Yahya’s family have paid tribute to their loved one: “Yahya was a beautiful, calm soul. He brought nothing but joy and happiness everywhere he went. Unfortunately, he passed away but his memory will always be with us.
“He was a beloved son, brother, an aspiring doctor and a precious member of various communities. His generosity, compassion and infectious smile will always be remembered.
“There is a gaping hole in many lives and he is dearly missed by everyone."
Now collision investigators are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a deeply tragic loss of a young life. Our thoughts are with his family after receiving such devastating news.
“We are doing everything we can to trace who committed this act and left the scene without a care for what they had done. I would urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch with us."
