PC Gaz Phillips welcomes a new addition to the family

Meet Kensi, a new addition to both the West Midlands Police family and PC Gaz Phillips’ family.

Gaz and Kensi have a special bond, as the 11 week old pup was born on the day Gaz was released from hospital after he was critically injured by a car thief whilst on duty in August.

Labrador pup Kensi is not only helping Gaz with his recovery, but Gaz is also helping police puppy Kensi with her development.

It won’t be long before Gaz will be able to build up his strength by taking Kensi out on walks, which will also help with his rehabilitation.

Gaz said: “I am so thrilled to have Kensi and want to say thank you to the Dog Unit and in particular Breed Scheme Manager Dave Raymond for giving me this opportunity.

“We love dogs and had no hesitations in having Kensi who has been keeping me company as I continue to recover from home.

“Kensi has livened things up and Diesel is loving his new role as a big brother."
