Murder enquiry launched after Birmingham shooting
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot last night (15 May) in Birmingham.
It’s understood the man was in Stratford Place, Highgate, before 11pm when he was shot.
Minutes later ambulance staff treating a patient near Belgrave Interchange, Balsall Heath, reported a man being presented to them with a gunshot wound to his chest.
The man, understood to be in his 20s and from Small Heath, was taken to hospital but pronounced dead this morning.
West Midlands Police Chief Superintendent Mark Payne said a murder enquiry has been launched and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
He said: “We understand the victim was in or near Stratford Place last night when he was shot. The details are unclear at this early stage and I would appeal to anyone who was at the location and may have heard and seen anything to get in touch.”
Anyone with information is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
