A man has died and two other people have been seriously injured in a collision in Birmingham last night (21 Jan).
The collision between a BMW and a Toyota Aygo happened around 8.55pm on Lichfield Road in Nechells.
A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and two men, both 26, from the Aygo were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One is in a critical condition and the other is stable.
Two people from the BMW, a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and theft of motor vehicle. They remain in police custody.
The BMW had been pursued by officers after it failed to stop, however the pursuit had been abandoned prior to the collision.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) as is normal procedure and they will conduct an independent investigation.
