Man jailed after WMP seize revolver

We’ve put a man back behind bars after he was caught hiding a gun in the shed of his Wolverhampton home.

Our officers acted on intelligence and swooped at Richard Beckles’ home in Chapel Ash on 30 July last year.

A search of the address in Hornbeam Walk led to the revolver being found in a box in a rear garden shed.

The 39-year-old was already on licence from prison after being convicted of a previous offence of having a gun.

He pleaded guilty to possession of an firearm when prohibited for life and was handed a five year jail term at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday (10 February).

DS Chris Jones, from CID, said: "There were a number of police teams involved in the swoop which led to a viable, and potentially lethal, firearm being taken off the streets.

"Beckles did not learn the error of his ways and will have to reflect on the perils of having an illegally-held gun while behind bars for a number of years."
