We have charged a man with the murder of 26-year-old Murtaza Nasir, who died from a gunshot wound in Stechford last month.

Shamraz Khan, aged 22 from Poppy Grove in Saltley, was arrested on Wednesday evening (16 Sept) and will appear before Birmingham magistrates this morning charged with Mr Nazir’s murder.

Two women, aged 49 and 22, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Mr Nazir’s family have been informed of the latest development and are being supported by specialist officers as they continue to grieve their loss.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Griffiths, from the force’s homicide unit, said: “We are still looking for others we believe were involved in the shooting on Bagshaw Road on the evening of Friday 28 August. Please contact us if you have any information in relation to the incident that will help us get justice for Murtaza’s family.”
