Man charged over menacing call to Birmingham hospital

We’ve charged a man with allegedly making a menacing phone call to a West Midlands hospital and posting an offensive YouTube video entitled “I hope all NHS die".

Matthew Wain was arrested from a flat in Perry Barr, Birmingham, in the early hours of yesterday (1 April) in connection with a YouTube video in which a man recorded himself making a phone call to City Hospital.

It’s alleged Wain made threats to staff during a phone call and also said “I hope the staff die of coronavirus".

The 31-year-old has been charged with sending menacing or offensive communications and has been bailed to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 29 April.
