Man charged with murder over fatal Coventry stabbing
We’ve charged a man with murder following a double stabbing in Coventry on Thursday (25 Feb) that left a man dead and his partner seriously ill in hospital.
It’s alleged Ryan Willden attacked the couple at his home address in Waveley Road, Coventry, at around 11.20am.
A 36-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene while a woman, aged 46, was taken to hospital with wounds to her neck and leg.
She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The deceased has been identified as Mark Hoof who was also living at the multi-occupancy address in the Spon End area of the city.
Willden, aged 36, was last night charged with one count of murder and one of attempted murder and is set to appear at Leamington Magistrates Court this morning (27 Feb).
Detective Inspector Jim Mahon from our Homicide Unit said the scene in Waveley Road will continue to be held for several days for a detailed forensic examination – and that CCTV enquiries are also progressing.
He added: "This is really tragic case…our investigations are moving swiftly.
“I’d like to thank members of the local community who have assisted us in this investigation and provided help at the scene and in providing evidence.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends who are clearly devastated at what’s happened. We have assigned a specially trained family liaison officer to offer them support at this tragic time.”
