Man charged following Birmingham murder

We’ve charged a man following a fatal stabbing in Birmingham yesterday (2 March).

The man was attacked at around 3.50am in Perry Villa Drive. He’s still not been formally identified at this stage, a forensic post mortem is being carried out today (3 March).

Erlin Hasa, aged 34 from no fixed address, has been charged with murder. He’s been remanded in custody and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (4 March).

We’ve also arrested two men, aged 21 and 30, on suspicion of murder; they are currently in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from our homicide team, said: “Our efforts to determine what happened yesterday morning continue at pace and these developments are positive.

“We’ve had lots of help from local residents which has been crucial for our investigation − I thank everyone who has assisted so far and I’d urge anyone who hasn’t yet spoken to us, to do so as soon as possible."
