Man arrested on suspicion of Handsworth murder bailed

A 36-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Handsworth has been released on police bail.

The 44-year-old woman was found with serious head injuries at an address in Albert Road, Handsworth on Wednesday morning (23 Jan) and died the following night in hospital.

A murder enquiry is on-going and anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact the force.

Homicide detectives are urging anyone who was in the vicinity of Albert Road overnight between Tuesday 22 January and Wednesday 23 January to get in touch. They are keen to know whether anyone saw a woman with a head injury or witnessed any kind of disorder on the night in question.

The body of the woman has not yet been formally identified, but next of kin have been informed and are being supported at this time.
