Man arrested in Dover remains in custody

A man remains in custody after West Midlands Counter Terrorism detectives were granted extra time to question him in connection with terrorism offences.

The 32-year-old man was arrested in Dover on Saturday 7 December; he continues to be held in the West Midlands on suspicion of preparing to commit terrorism offences and funding/supporting terrorism after a warrant of further detection was obtained enabling detectives to hold him until Friday 20 December.

A 31-year-old woman - who was also arrested in Dover last Saturday - has been released without charge.

A 49-year-old man, who was arrested on Wednesday (11 Dec) in Solihull on suspicion of funding/supporting terrorism, has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The arrests are not linked in any way to the London Bridge terror attack and enquiries into this matter were underway prior to the incident on 29 November.

Every year thousands of reports from the public help police tackle the terrorist threat. If you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts and ACT by reporting to police in confidence at gov.uk/ACT.
