Machetes recovered and cannabis farm found at addresses in Erdington
#LifeOrKnife | We carried out a warrant in #Birmingham after our intelligence uncovered a photo of three teenagers posing with machetes, Zombie knives and a handgun.
Officers from our neighbourhood taskforce in north Birmingham executed a warrant at an address in Erdington at 6am on Tuesday morning.
It followed intelligence we received that a 15-year-old boy had images on his phone of him and two others holding weapons and making threats to steal a car.
Officers found two large combat knives hidden under sofas and another in the garden.
No arrests were made but the knives, plus some nun-chucks and an air rifle, were seized while enquiries continue.
While at the address officers chased down and arrested two men who ran from a neighbouring property.
We later found a cannabis farm in the address with around 100 plants in various stages of growth.
Men aged 22 and 29 have been charged with cannabis production. Both men have since been remanded into prison having appeared at court; they will also be spoken to by immigration officials.
All in all, a great result.
This was a quick-time turnaround of intelligence that led to an emergency warrant to seize weapons we suspected could be used to commit serious violent offences.

We cannot do it alone – we need help from the community and parents in tackling knife crime.
