Combat knife found in a park as teens charged with robbery
A large combat knife has been recovered near a park after West Midlands Police were called to reports of a knife-point robbery.
Officers were alerted at 10.20pm on Saturday night (12 Jan) to reports of a group of male youths threatening a boy and girl – both aged 15 – with a knife in Princess Alice Park, Sutton Coldfield, before fleeing with their mobile phones.
West Midlands Police cops flooded the area and arrested four youths while a daylight search of the area the following morning uncovered a sheathed, serrated-edge knife.
Two Birmingham teenagers, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with two counts of robbery and were due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (14 Jan). The younger suspect also faces a charge of cannabis possession.
Two others, aged 16 and 17, have been released on bail with conditions including an overnight curfew.
