‘Clown robber’ suspect charged with McDonald’s knife raid

A man has been charged over a robbery at a McDonald’s restaurant in which a man wearing a clown mask threatened staff with a kitchen knife.

It’s alleged Zachery Ryan ran into the Alvis Retail Park eatery in Earlsdon, Coventry, at 12.30am on Wednesday morning (7 August) before being tackled by West Midlands Police officers in the restaurant.

The 41-year-old, of no fixed address, was questioned by detectives yesterday and charged with robbery. He’s due to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court today (8 August).

No-one was injured during the incident and no money taken.
