A speeding driver who killed a young boy and badly injured his mother after ploughing into them in Coventry has been jailed.

Abid Mohmood left two-year-old Umar Akhalwaya with serious, multiple injuries after hitting him on Stoney Stanton Road on 8 April last year.

A member of the public has been awarded for tackling a shoplifter as he tried to run away from officers in Streetly.

Lee Getty, aged 47, spotted the crook running from officers before jumping into the back of a getaway car on Aldridge Road on 16 October last year.
