Appeal for information into Bartley Green attempted murder

We are appealing for information after a man was stabbed multiple times on Wood Lane in the Bartley Green area of Birmingham last Friday (7 August).

Officers were called to the back of a fish and chip shop on the road, where an 18-year-old man had suffered several stab wounds to his stomach and arm. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains today (Tuesday 11 August).

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information on what happened at around 5.30pm that day, to come forward. It is understood that the victim ran to someone’s house in the area for help, while one of the suspected offenders also knocked on people’s doors.

Sergeant Mark Salisbury from our force CID team, said: “If you noticed anything suspicious in the area last Friday or saw what you thought was a fight between a group of men, please get in touch with us. The information you have may seem very minor, but it could really help our investigation.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone in the local neighbourhood who spoke to anyone that randomly knocked on their door, has CCTV of the encounter, or of the incident itself.”

A 16-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a knife, has been bailed with conditions pending further enquiries.

Enquiries continue and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat at www.west-midlands.police.uk 8am - midnight or call 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111. Quote crime reference 20BW/186643Y/20.
