Burglars steal wrapped presents days before Christmas; police appeal launched

Thieves broke into a family home five days before Christmas and stole presents and bank cards before driving off in the family car, hitting the homeowner in the process.

The family had been for a day out on 20 December and returned home to Plumstead Road, Kingstanding to find one of the suspects in the process of stealing their Audi S4 from their drive.

Heroic dad leapt in front of the car in a desperate bid to stop the thieves fleeing with the Christmas presents – but they drove straight into him.

Police are appealing to the public to help trace this man

Miraculously he sustained only minor injuries to his leg.

The presents had been wrapped and tagged and were waiting under the tree, ready to be opened on Christmas morning.

It’s thought the suspects arrived in a stolen white Fiat 500 which was recovered from the scene.

The Audi is still outstanding and detectives have been following numerous lines of enquiry to trace the vehicle and those involved.

They have now released images of one of the suspects using a stolen bank card and are appealing for anyone who knows anything about the burglary to contact them.
