Vehicle Operations is responsible for buying, maintaining and disposing of every West Midlands Police vehicle.

This is all undertaken at its top class vehicle maintenance facility in the heart of Birmingham city centre. A team of highly skilled technicians look after a total fleet of around 1,700 vehicles consisting of cars, motorbikes, personnel carriers, despatch vans and HGVs as well as trailers, generators and specialist items of equipment.

Transport Operations provide a 24/7 365 day operating service. The teams varied duties include police vehicle recovery, collection and delivery, forensic services despatch, delivery of specialist equipment at incident scenes, countrywide prisoner collections, prison vans at major events, despatch support to local policing units and departments and out of hours support to incidents across the force area.
