Our Structure

The force is made up of 7,249 police officers, supported by 3,086 police staff, 345 special constables and 690 police community support officers (PCSOs).

The force is divided into 8 neighbourhood policing units (NPUs), each headed by a Chief Superintendent, who is responsible for the overall policing and management of the area.

The 8 NPUs are divided into neighbourhoods, each policed by a dedicated neighbourhood team. Each team contains police officers, police community support officers and special constables. Neighbourhood policing is supported by a range of force-wide specialist teams.
