West Midlands Police have charged three bogus workmen with burglary and fraud after they were caught allegedly trying to con £300 from a 99-year-old Birmingham woman.
Officers arrested them at an address in Walmley yesterday (March 2) following reports of suspicious activity by men cold-calling residents...it's claimed they were trying to trick the woman into handing over cash for roof repairs they'd not actually carried out.
The arrests come on the back of a national 'think-tank' report suggesting UK police forces are "turning a blind eye" to burglary - a claim strongly refuted by West Midlands Police.
A Moseley fraudster who posed as a financial advisor to con over £370,000 from unsuspecting victims has been jailed for four years.
Unemployed Nabil Mohammed was first arrested by West Midlands Police in 2013 after his fraudulent activities were reported and an investigation was launched.
