  • You can receive life imprisonment for supplying a Class A drug; 14 yrs for a Class B drug, and 5 yrs for supplying a class C drug.

In addition to the legal & health implications, you are risking your university degree, your career, and if you have a conviction for drugs you will not be able to enter some countries, e.g. USA and Australia.

A word on supplying

There are two supply offences:

  • Possession with intent to supply – this also includes examples where you possessed the drug legally (e.g. it was prescribed to you), and you then supply it to somebody else
  • You offered to supply a drug to someone – you would not need to physically be in possession of it at the time of the offer.
  • You are supplying drugs if you share a joint with friends.

A word on university protocols

If you are caught in possession of any drug whilst at university, you may face discipline charges – the discipline options are wide, and include exclusion from university accommodation (if you are caught in possession whilst in university run accommodation), exclusion from university, fines etc.

A word on how to help yourself

If you are taking drugs and are worried about their affects on you then seek help from your university student services or your student union advice centre; although the university will not condone your drug use, they place your health above discipline and will offer you support and advice if you come to them wanting to be helped.
