Travel tips
- Keep valuables, especially jewellery, out of sight. Put jewellery chains under clothing
- Keep luggage close at hand at all times and in sight if possible. Don't have your name or address visible on any tags
- Keep keys separate from anything with your address on it. If you are travelling, someone may assume your house is empty
- Wait for the bus, train or tram at a busy place
- When on a bus, train or tram, sit as near to the driver as possible
- Carry a personal alarm and keep it ready to use
On the train
- At the station, stand on the platform where you can be seen by a station guard or other passengers
- Avoid empty carriages – try to sit with couples or families
- Choose your seat carefully. Don't get trapped by a window and make sure you can see who is getting on the train
- Never be afraid to use the emergency cord if in danger.
