• Do:
  • Always think about where you park
  • Try to avoid parking in unlit areas at night
  • Use a car park with security and CCTV
  • Look for a car park with The Park Mark sign (JPG 23kb)
  • The Park Mark® Safer Parking Award is granted to parking areas that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment as conducted by the police. These requirements mean the parking operator has put measures in place to help deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, thereby doing everything they can to prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime in their parking area.   • Look for people or barrier controlled access and exit points
  • Lock all windows, doors and the sunroof whenever you leave a vehicle, even for just a few minutes
  • If you can't take possessions with you - lock them in the boot
• Don’t:
  • Leave valuables on display in your car
  • Mobile phones, coats, bags and CDs are all potential targets for thieves so always take them with you
  • Never leave keys in the ignition – even for a few seconds
