Wolverhampton 'abduction' myth busting

11 October 2012

Police have investigated an allegation of a suspicious behaviour which happened in Wolverhampton on Sunday 7 October at around 7.30pm.

An 11-year-old lad was walking along Ruskin Road in the Scotlands area when it is alleged that a man in a dark blue people carrier shouted at him to get in.

The lad ignored him and continued on his way.

It is important to remember that this is not an attempted abduction; this is simply an allegation of suspicious behaviour. At no time has any physical contact been made and no crimes have been committed. However, we take all such reports extremely serious and believe that this is an isolated occurrence in the Wolverhampton area.

We have stepped up reassurance patrols in the area and are encouraging anyone who sees any suspicious activity to call us on 101.
