Welcome to Wolverhampton Local Policing Unit
We’ve had a busy few weeks over April with our web chats proving a great success. So far we’ve held nine chats with a total of over 400 people tuning in live and there have been 3,000 replays since the chats have taken place.
Topics discussed have included issues from anti-social behaviour to un-taxed vehicles and we have had some great feedback about the live web chats. Keep checking back here for more in the future.
Over the last month we have also had a number of successful arrests including one assisted by police dog Ivan. He brought down a fleeing burglar at Wolverhampton Business School who had also attacked his handler, Police Constable Jonathan Wood with a hacksaw blade.
Last month we have also been able to give thousands of pounds to some fantastic local charities through our Police Property Act fund. Recent charities that have benefited include the Wolverhampton street pastors and the Christian Life Youth Centre.
We are also continuing with our lighter nights campaign, as statistics show that opportunist burglaries traditionally increase in the spring and early summer. To reduce the chance of becoming a victim of burglary, please remember to securely lock windows and doors and to double check them before bed.
Garden sheds, garages and outhouses can also be targeted by criminals in the summer months so please remember to secure them and keep garden tools safely locked away.
We are working extremely hard to reduce crime across Wolverhampton and are pleased to report that crime has fallen significantly over the past 12 months. To receive daily updates about upcoming events, as well as crime prevention advice and local policing news, follow Wolverhampton Police on Twitter or like us on Facebook.
