Police close M6 southbound following serious collision

Motorway police have currently closed the M6 southbound between junctions 5 (Castle Bromwich) and 4A (the split with the M42) following a serious collision this afternoon.
The collision occurred at 2.25pm between the junctions and involved up to three vehicles, including a horse box.
There are injuries reported but there are no further details at this stage.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if at all possible. The northbound carriageway is currently still running slowly
