Further arrest in Ben Morutare murder investigation

13 October 2012

A THIRD 17-year-old lad has been arrested this morning (Saturday) in connection with the investigation into the murder of Walsall teenager Ben Morutare.

The teenager was arrested this morning as two other 17-year-olds appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates charged with violent disorder. The two have been bailed with conditions and will next appear at Sandwell Magistrates Court next week.

The 17-year-old lad, who is from Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and is helping detectives with their enquiries.

Sixteen-year-old Ben died after being stabbed in the leg on Saturday 28 July following a disturbance outside the Smethwick Home Guard and Old Comrades Club on Oldbury Road, where he had earlier attended an 18th birthday party.

Despite the charges and further arrests, detectives continue to appeal for people who were in the area at the time of the incident to contact them. Anyone with information should contact Force CID on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
