Double murder charge following Walsall deaths

8 October 2012

A MAN has been charged with two counts of murder following the discovery of two bodies at a block of flats in Walsall over the weekend.

The 43-year-old was arrested on Saturday (6 October) after the discoveries were made on Acacia Avenue on the Yew Tree Estate.

He will appear at Sandwell Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Tuesday 9 October).

The body of 69-year-old Pauline Gillian was found inside a flat.

Today her family described her as “a wonderful, beloved mother and grandmother, who will be missed dearly.”

The body of a man, believed to be in his 40s and who is yet to be formally identified, was found behind the apartments.

Forensic post-mortems have concluded that both of the victims died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

The victims' families are being supported by specially trained liaison officers at this time.

Anyone with information which they feel may assist the inquiry is asked to contact Force CID on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
