Shop raid suspects remanded in prison
4 October 2012
FOUR Black Country men have been remanded into prison after being charged over three shop raids in just 24 hours.
Stephen Keats (24), Amanpreet Hayre (26), Lee Potts (28) and 24-year-old Patrick Rafferty appeared before Walsall magistrates today to hear allegations they robbed a shop assistant of £6,000 in cigarettes as she opened a Bentley newsagent at 5.30am on Tuesday (Oct 2).
They’re also accused of breaking into Co-Op Penkridge earlier the same morning and, in the early hours of Monday (Oct 1), raiding a convenience store in Bushbury Lane, Bushbury.
And they collectively are suspected of burgling a home in Alton Avenue, Willenhall, on September 30 when a BMW was stolen.
Keats from Woden Road in Heath Town; Hayre from Prestwood Road, Wednesfield; Rafferty of no fixed address; and Potts from Wayside in Pendeford all face two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and another count of robbery.
All were remanded in custody and are scheduled to next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on December 21.
