Mobile phone theft suspect caught on camera

24 September 2012

POLICE in Walsall have released CCTV footage of a man suspected of stealing a mobile phone from a shop in the town centre.

It is alleged that at around 10am on Wednesday 28 August, the man captured on camera walked into the shop claiming he wanted to buy a Samsung Galaxy S III phone.

With the phone placed on the counter, the ‘customer’ bombarded the employee with questions and grabbed the phone from behind the counter when the shop worker popped into the back office.

The man has then walked out of the shop and boarded a train to Aston.

Anyone who recognises the man should call PC David Bryan from the St Matthew’s neighbourhood policing team on 101. Alternatively, people who do not want to speak with police officers directly can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
