Trio accused of running car theft racket
26 September 2011
THREE men have appeared in court accused of running a car theft racket targeting high-performance cars parked at Birmingham Airport.
Kevin Weldon (32), Christian Shan (30) and 28-year-old Darren Hall stood before Coventry magistrates on Saturday (Sept 24) accused of conspiring to steal BMW M3s from car-parks at the airport, train station and surrounding hotels.
The trio – all from Sheldon – also face a charge of conspiring to steal vehicles and jewellery from properties across the West Midlands between May 31 and September 22 this year.
One of the alleged burglaries occurred on July 11 in Packwood Lane, Lapworth, whilst another relates to an incident in Balsall Common's Alder Lane on Thursday (Sept 22) during which police arrested a man following a three-hour rooftop stand-off.
Weldon, from Barrows Lane, Shan from Saxondale Avenue, and Hall from Sheldon's Coventry Road were remanded in custody to appear at Solihull Magistrates Court tomorrow (Sept 27).
