New sergeant for West Bromwich invites public to web chat
29 August 2013
THE NEW sergeant responsible for neighbourhood policing in West Bromwich town centre is inviting the public to question him about policing in the area.
On Friday 30 August, Sergeant Gavin Peever who has recently taken over the town centre team, is inviting the public to send him questions or raise any issues that affect them or their family as part of a live online web chat.
There has been a 21.8 per cent reduction in crime in West Bromwich between April 2012 and March 2013 which represents 435 fewer victims. Working with Sandwell Council and other agencies, police have led a range of schemes over the past year to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and make the town a safer, cleaner area for everyone. These include tackling town centre street drinking, homelessness and shoplifting.
On the day residents and visitors of the area will be able to ask questions live to Sergeant Gavin Peever. It will be available on the Sandwell Police website under the find out more section.
You can remain anonymous and there is no need to register. You will also be able to see the questions that other people are asking. If you can't tune in between 6pm and 7pm you will be able to replay the event.
Sergeant Peever said: "My team has a great relationship with many local residents and businesses in West Bromwich town centre, one that I am keen to build on. However, I am aware that there are lots of people in our community who will never be able to make it to a residents' meeting because the time or venue isn't right for them. Therefore I am keen to offer an alternative way for people to talk to me about local issues.
"If you have any questions about your neighbourhood or even if you have a burning question that you have already always wanted to ask the police check out the web chat."
