Sandwell is home to an estimated 287,300 people. It has a diverse and wide-ranging population, with numerous communities from all backgrounds and ethnicities living alongside one another.

The six towns that form the basis of Sandwell are; West Bromwich, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury, Oldbury, and Rowley Regis.

Policing in Sandwell is split into 24 neighbourhood teams that are co-terminus with local authority ward boundaries. Each of these neighbourhood teams has a dedicated sergeant, a number of dedicated police officers and also numerous police community support officers (PCSOs).
