Action - community priorities

The priorities for Cotteridge neighbourhood are:

  1. Pakefield Road and Sheringham Road - upkeep of highway
Residents from Pakefield Road and Sheringham Road have expressed concern that these two roads require sweeping by the council in order to improve the appearance and maintain the upkeep of the roads.
Birmingham City Council are to take care of this matter and we will feed back the results as soon as it has been completed.
  2. Inconsiderate parking outside Kings Norton Fire Station and Cotteridge Ch
There have been numerous concerns raised about parking on the pavement between Cotteridge Church and Kings Norton Fire Station.
These vehicles are obstructing the pavements causing pedestrians to have to walk in the road in order to pass by them which is a potential hazard.
Neighbourhood Policing Team to investigate the matter and move vehicles on when found to be obstructing the area.
  3. Anti Social Behaviour outside McDonalds, Parsons Hill
There have been issues of Anti Social Behaviour (ASB)outside McDonalds on Parsons Hill, whereby youths are congregating and causing Anti Social Behaviour to nearby residents and customers.
  4. TASKING MEETING FOR 06/01/2010 CANCELLED
***TASKING MEETING FOR 06/01/2010 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER, THE PRIORITIES FOR THIS MONTH WILL REMAIN THE SAME***.

Answers - feedback and solutions

The following are the issues raised from our last neighbourhood meeting and what we are doing to tackle them:

  • Cars speeding and double parking along Sheringham Park
Increased patrols in the area and speed checks have been conducted by local officers. During the speed checks no vehicles were registered as being over the speed limit.
  • No parking sign - outside the shops on Lindsworth Road
The residents and shop keepers have asked if the 'No Parking' sign that is situated close to the shops be removed. This will allow the shopkeepers to park their cars at the location freeing up parking spaces and possibly easing congestion on the main road. This is an ongoing issue with Birmingham City Council with a view to an update regarding this matter at the next neighbourhood tasking meeting.

How can you get involved?

Our neighbourhood policing teams are working hard to ensure that your personal concerns about the area in which you live are identified and acted upon quickly, and that you are frequently given positive and useful feedback about the action we have taken.

But to do this we need your help.

We would love to hear from you about any issues you think the police should be tackling in your community.

There are lots of ways you can do this, including attending one of the police meetings that are held regularly, calling or emailing the team using the details above, or you could simply stop one of our officers or PCSOs in the street and have a chat.

Fix My Street is also a brilliant way to voice your concerns, anonymously if you wish! Why not visit the website at www.fixmystreet.com, pop your postcode in and see what issues have been raised about your street?

You could even get involved with your local Neighbourhood Watch by visiting www.neighbourhoodwatch.net.

Whichever method you prefer, we hope to hear from you soon!
