Last month was very successful for Dudley police with lots of positive activity and great results.

Of of those highlights saw seven men received a total of 16 years after they stole £81,000 of flat Russian made steel from Mid Section Metals in Kingswinford.

Our Stourbridge officers have been busy patrolling the streets of Oldswinford and The Old Quarter in a blitz to deter offences of theft from vehicles. Unbelievably over a two day operation over 100 vehicles were found to be left unsecured and unlocked with valuables on display such as laptops, tools, iPods and sat navs.

Don’t forget to remove all valuables from your vehicles and make sure it is locked when unattended. Don’t make yourself vulnerable and an easy target for opportunist thieves.

Earlier this year residents and business raised concerns about street drinking in Quarry bank at the local neighbourhood community meeting. After working in partnership with Dudley Council we secured a Designated Public Places Order (DPPO) in Quarry Bank this April. Under the DPPO, police officers and police community support officers can ask anyone believed to be consuming alcohol leading to anti-social behaviour to stop drinking.

We have also said farewell to two of our long standing volunteers, Sylvia Butler and Gordon Barker who have worked tirelessly over the years to ensure that Sedgley police station’s front office remains open to residents. Chief Superintendent Stuart Johnson, Dudley police commander presented them both with a Commanders Commendation certificate.

Officers across Dudley borough will always continue to respond to your local concerns and will often keep you updated on their progress at our local PACT meetings or on the more advanced web chats that some officers have started to use – we hope to eventually get all neighbourhood sergeants up and running on this interactive web based forum.

Dudley neighbourhood Sergeant Warren Lambert, who is responsible for neighbourhood policing across, the St Thomas area of Dudley and Netherton, Woodside and St Andrews, is inviting local residents to question him about policing in their area.

On Monday 20 May between 6pm – 7:30pm Sergeant Warren Lambeth is inviting local residents and businesses to send him questions or raise any issues that affect them or their family as part of a LIVE online web chat.

This will be the fifth web chat of it’s kind across the borough and has so far proven to be a great success, with a total of 666 borough residents logging on and asking their local Sergeant policing questions or by people replaying the questions and answers for the web chat.

Sgt Lambeth is happy to discuss or talk about any topic that is raised in the web chat, he will also be talking about local policing priorities in the area which have been set by residents at our community meetings, for example speeding, anti-social behaviour and parking issues.
