Neighbourhood policing allows the police, our partners and the public to work closely together to solve the problems of crime and disorder and make our communities feel safer.
Neighbourhood policing means having dedicated teams of officers accountable for dealing with issues that matter most to local people. A dedicated neighbourhood team works in your area, made up of police officers, police community support officers and special constables.
The team also works closely with partner agencies, including the local authority, housing, health, businesses etc to improve the quality of life within our neighbourhoods.
The F1 Central Birmingham OCU is divided into three sectors:
Since April 2006 we have changed the way we police our community. Dedicated neighbourhood policing teams ensure that the right number of people police the right areas in the right numbers.
Our neighbourhood teams spend most of their time out on patrol in your neighbourhood, meeting the local community and identifying and dealing with those crimes and issues that you have told us cause you most concern. Please feel free to approach them and discuss your concerns or speak to them at one of the many local meetings they attend.
Neighbourhood policing offers your community:
