West Midlands Police Diamond Awards 2012 / 13

Diamond Awards

The very first Diamond Awards ceremony, recognising the ‘best of the best’ was held on Wednesday 23 January.

Passionate PCSOs, selfless Special Constables and caring community members were amongst some of the 14 who scooped a West Midlands Police 'Diamond Award'.

The new awards were launched in October 2012 and encouraged nominations for police officers and staff that have gone the extra mile, plus good citizens who have worked with the force to help make their communities safer.

Inaugural Diamond winners received their accolades at a ceremony in the Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston, which Chief Constable Chris Sims opened and regional news reader, Joanne Malin, hosted.

Talking about the awards, Chief Constable Sims, said: "Every day there are many examples of fantastic work, acts of bravery and people going above and beyond the call of duty; delivering a level of service that friends and family would be proud of.

"The Diamond Awards highlight some of these fantastic examples and praise individuals and teams that have made a significant contribution to helping make the West Midlands a safer place to live, work and visit."
