THE Chief Constable of West Midlands Police and the Chairman of West Midlands Police Authority have requested an independent review into the processes behind the siting of cameras in eastern Birmingham.
Chief Constable Chris Sims has asked for a detailed and impartial examination of his force's role in Project Champion after the force admitted mistakes had been made.
The review will be carried out by the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police.
Mr Sims said: "It is important that we learn from mistakes and the review is intended to ensure that the public has confidence in our future decision making processes."
Both the Police Authority Chairman Derek Webley and the Chief Constable agreed that an impartial, objective review was necessary.
Derek Webley said: "We look forward to seeing the report at the end of September. In the meantime the Authority is committed to working with the community."
