More than 130 foreign vehicles have been seized in the first few weeks of a pilot clamping down on overseas drivers flouting UK road rules.
West Midlands Police is one of six forces nationwide taking part in a test project that sees officers handed devolved Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) powers to impound vehicles being driven illegally on the country’s roads.
A lorry driver is due to appear in court this morning (25 November), accused of drink driving, after a HGV was stopped driving the wrong way along a Willenhall dual carriageway.
Tomasz Kruchowski was stopped by police on the Black Country Route at 2.20am on Monday 24 November when officers on patrol spotted the lorry travelling away from the M6 junction on the wrong carriageway.
Detectives investigating a non-recent serious sexual assault have widened their appeal to trace a couple who came to the aid of the distressed teenage victim.
