Man arrested following suspected hit and run in Walsall

A man has been arrested following a suspected hit and run in Walsall that left a pensioner with serious head injuries.

The collision happened yesterday morning (19 April) at around 11am in Lichfield Road in Walsall. 

A man believed to be in his 80s sustained severe head injuries and remains in a serious condition in hospital. 

Following an appeal for information a man was identified and arrested by officers in the early hours of this morning. The car was also recovered.

The man aged 41 is currently being questioned on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. 

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We continue to investigate the circumstances around the collision and we still need people to come forward with information.

"We would like to thank the public for their help especially with the information received so far following the appeal.”
