Preventing crime, protecting the public and helping those in need
Stab vests, knives, drugs and a suspected stolen motor bike were among the haul in early morning raids across Birmingham today (Thursday 16 February).
Officers from the Organised Crime and Gangs Team carried out the raids at five addresses in Bournville, Northfield and Darlaston as part of a pre-planned operation.
Five teenagers aged 16 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
The teenage boys were questioned and released on police bail pending further enquiries. A 35-year-old woman was also arrested from one of the addresses in Bournville for theft and released on bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Dale said: "We are committed to identifying those suspected of being involved in gang-related crime and the execution of these warrants formed part of our investigations.
"Violent crime will not be tolerated in our communities and we will seek to pursue lengthy custodial sentences through the courts for anyone convicted of being involved.
"We would urge anyone with information about drug and knife crime to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
