Man arrested after bomb hoax causes rush hour chaos in West Bromwich

24/07/2014

A West Bromwich man has been arrested after a suspicious package was left at a business premises causing traffic chaos earlier this week.

A 100 metre cordon was placed around the premises in West Bromwich High Street just after 4pm on Tuesday (22 July) and roads were closed as more than a dozen police officers secured the building, while a police sniffer dog determined if the package contained explosives.

After the parcel was found to be harmless, roads reopened shortly before 6pm with a small cordon remaining around the premises as an investigation into the hoax was launched.

The 60-year-old man was arrested from his home address this morning and is helping police with the ongoing enquiry.
