Police are issuing a warning after a spate of distraction burglaries took place across Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham in the last week.
Criminals have struck ten times and on nearly all occasions have attended homes of elderly occupants saying that they are working on drainage problems at neighbouring properties or in the street and they need to urgently check their property.
Once inside the house or gardens they claim that their property is the cause and that they must pay for the emergency repairs straightaway.
