Man injured in Alum Rock collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a collision in Alum Rock (Wednesday 9 July).

The 26-year-old was struck by a Mercedes Vito van on Belchers Lane shortly before 1pm; he is currently in a stable condition in hospital with serious head injuries and a broken leg.

The road was closed for over three hours after emergency services were called to the scene.

PC Adam Green from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The collision happened near to the busy junction with Cotterills Lane and there would have been several people around at the time. I would urge anyone who has not already spoken to police to contact us as soon as possible."

The Collision Investigation Unit can be contacted on 101.
