Appeal for witnesses following collision in Bartley Green

A woman has died following a collision in Bartley Green in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 26 November).

The woman was a rear seat passenger in a car which failed to stop for police moments before crashing into street furniture and a parked van on Adams Hill just before 3am. A police officer performed immediate CPR but sadly nothing could be done to save her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. Both he and another male front seat passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road has been closed while emergency services and collision reconstruction experts establish the circumstances of the collision.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) as is normal procedure.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101.
