What action can be taken?
Anti-social behaviour covers a wide range of selfish and unpleasant activity that can ruin community life.
Actions that can be used by the police and other agencies if you are caught causing anti-social behaviour are:
- You could be sent a warning letter from the police through the post to your parents/guardians
- You could be asked to come to the police station to be interviewed
- Your parent/guardian could be sent a parenting order, injunctions and dispersal powers or Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs)
These actions could be set up by the police, your local council and school or youth offending team.
If you have been experiencing anti-social behaviour then please tell your teacher, parent/guardian or contact your local police station.
Information that you should be aware of when reporting anti-social behaviour to an adult includes:
- The name of the person or people who were involved
- What did you see?
- Were there any other witnesses?
- How did it affect you?
