CMPG

The Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) is made up of officers and staff from West Midlands, West Mercia and Staffordshire police forces.

The area covered by CMPG stretches from the Welsh borders to the northern border with Cheshire and everything in between, covering approximately 400 miles of motorway including eight motorway service areas.

24 hour CMPG patrols operate from three bases around the region, the headquarters in Perry Barr, Birmingham, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

CMPG also have a regional control centre in Quinton, Birmingham shared with the Highways Agency, helping to ensure a close working relationship.

Chief Superintendent Martin Evans says, "CMPG is a 24/7 dynamic, intelligence-led enforcement group that has a real focus on disrupting criminality and making our roads safer. In the last three years we have seized £20 million in cash, drugs and assets. As well as managing the motorways, we work with colleagues across the regional forces to reduce crime and make our communities feel safer."
